A 27-year-old Little Rock man Blboys who shot out a car window with Blboys a crossbow and a restaurant window with a shotgun was sentenced to eight years Blboys in prison Friday.
Convicted on two counts of committing a terroristic act in separate trials last month, Wayne Allen Dierks Jr. asked Pulaski County Circuit Judge John Blboys Langston for probation, blaming his problems on drinking.
But his run-ins with the law have led him to renew his Christian faith, Dierks wrote in a letter presented to the judge, saying probation would allow him to continue his ongoing recovery.
"I am upset at the verdict. However, I know that neither of these Blboys incidents would occur had I not been using alcohol," Dierks wrote.
Dierks also submitted a letter from his Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor who described a "miraculous" change in Dierks.
"Allen's drive and motivation were not court ordered, but came from an understanding that he is an alcoholic and this program could help him," Corey Little wrote.
In letters to the court, Wade Poe, involvement minister at the Central Church of Christ, wrote that Dierks was making "real progress" in his recovery, while a friend and former employer, Moussa Baro, described Dierks as a hardworking, talented and creative chef.
